Ministry of MSME launches Two New Schemes for artisans in KVI Sector
 

SCHEME FOR ENHANCING PRODUCTIVITY AND COMPETITIVENESS OF TRADITIONAL KHADI INDUSTRIES AND ARTISANS

The scheme aims to make Khadi Industry more productive as well as competitive and also strengthen its potential for creation of qualitative employment.

 

 

The scheme will cover 200 Khadi institutions encompassing all categories of institutions so as to maintain inclusive growth in rural areas.

 

 

Khadi institutions working in less developed and backward States and belonging to socially backward and weaker section of the society will have preference.

 

 

The institutions implementing the scheme will receive support to the extent of Rs.42.00 lakhs for total transformation at institution level.

 

 

The support under the scheme will encompass hard as well as soft components namely, production infrastructure, value addition, design & development, market promotion, capacity building and also support for techno-managerial man power.

 

 

The scheme will supplement the SFURTI programme of KVIC and take it to regions of the country including remotest parts of India.

 

WORK SHED SCHEME FOR KHADI ARTISANS


 

The objective of the scheme is to provide adequate working space for artisans for the implements as well as raw materials and finished products so as to help artisans to work with comfort in a healthy environment.

 

 

It offers assistance ofRs.25,000/- in form of grant, per artisan for construction of work shed admeasuring 20 sq. mtrs. in their home environment.

 

 

The target for 2008-09 is to provide work sheds to 10,000 artisans belonging to BPL group and weaker sections.

 

 

The scheme has provision for construction of work shed in groups also.  The size of group may be in the range of 5 to 15 artisans and the permissible subsidy @ Rs.15,000/- will be provided for group work shed.
